If your content strategy isn’t seeing the results you’d hoped for, this is probably the reason.
Most content marketing strategies, if executed well, start seeing results within the first two months. It’s a long-term strategy, so you won’t see new traffic flooding in immediately, but if you’re still struggling to see any momentum after a few months of consistent work, you know that something’s wrong.
At this point, we’ll assume that you’re doing all the “right” things with the content itself, prioritizing quality and publishing regularly. So why aren’t people reading it more actively?
Chances are, the problem is you aren’t listening to your audience. You’re writing content you think they might like, but you don’t really know for sure because you aren’t listening to what they have to say about it, or hearing their wants and needs.
How to Listen Better
Ultimately, this is a problem with understanding and targeting your audience. So how can you listen to your audience better?
- Analyze everything. Which posts are performing best? Which ones aren’t doing so well? Take this information and use it to decide what types of posts to publish next.
- Conduct surveys. Don’t be afraid to ask your customers for their opinions directly. Conduct surveys and find out what types of content they want to see.
- Talk to your followers. Talk to the people who are reading your blogs. Engage with them, and learn what makes them tick.
- Watch your competitors. Keep an eye on your competitors. What type of content are they publishing? What can you learn from them?
- Picking a direction and sticking to it is a bad strategy for content. Experiment with new angles to find new things that work.
With these tips, you’ll be able to adjust your content strategy to fit your audience’s needs, and you’ll start seeing results in a matter of weeks.
