In case you haven’t heard, AI has made a tremendous leap forward with the introduction of ChatGPT. This OpenAI language model is impressively capable of understanding and communicating with natural language, responding to user prompts with seemingly thoughtful and competently worded replies.

Can you use this tool for content marketing? And if so, how?

Why You Shouldn’t Use ChatGPT to Write Content

First, understand that you should not use ChatGPT to write content for you. It’s certainly tempting to do so, given that ChatGPT can write full, original articles by itself.

Why can’t you do this?

First, understand that AI content is incredibly easy to detect. While the language reads as natural, it’s highly repetitive, perfectly structured, and can be easily flagged by an equally competent system. If you produce AI generated content for your blog, you could face a Google penalty and compromise your results.

Second, ChatGPT isn’t perfect. It doesn’t have access to information after 2021, and it’s capable of making significant mistakes. If you rely on this tool excessively, you could end up publishing inaccurate information.

Third, ChatGPT doesn’t have a personality. Its content comes off as cold and robotic. You can modify this by requesting the machine to take on a different tone, but there are still some limitations here.

What You Can Do With ChatGPT in Content Marketing

Even so, ChatGPT can be valuable for content marketing. You can use it to generate new ideas for your blog. You can use it to outline your content before you start writing it. You can even use it to research some of your topics, as long as you’re willing to Fact Check it afterward.

In other words, this AI tool shouldn’t be used for generating content directly and in isolation. But it can be used to assist you in generating content for your marketing campaign.
