Content marketing is a landmark new strategy that can improve your brand reputation and secure an ample new stream of leads—but only if your content is interesting.

While some entrepreneurs and marketing departments struggle with issues like time or syndication, the most common fault point of content marketing programs tends to be a lack of interesting content. You can have extremely well-written, well-syndicated articles in constant circulation, but none of that will matter if your content isn’t interesting to your key demographics.

So how do you take your content strategy and make it more interesting for these new users? We’ve compiled six methods under the umbrella of brand rhetoric to help you discover a route to more engaging, interesting content:

1.       Focus on the Present. You don’t necessarily have to write content that pertains to a specific event in the news, but if there is a common thread or feeling in the air, play to it. For instance, recent NSA leaks stirred up controversy regarding privacy.

2.       Use Case Studies. People want to read about what they’re already familiar with, so try to leverage case studies whenever possible. It’s a great way to apply new lines of thinking to familiar topics and capture new audiences.

3.       Take a Strong Stance. Even if some people end up disagreeing with you, it’s a good idea to take a strong opinion in your articles. The less popular that opinion is, the more attention it will likely receive (just make sure you can defend yourself).

4.       Use Information. Opinions are nice, but the only way to keep people thinking you’re an authority is to use real, confirmable data.

5.       Relate to Something Obscure. Find a way to take common, boring topics and relate them to something obscure or dynamic. For instance, at Quez Media we have a weekly series of articles that uses fictional characters to convey lessons about marketing.

6.       Make Predictions. Be bold and make predictions about your industry. It will build your reputation as a thought leader and draw more people in.

With these strategies, you can build a much more solid, sustainable content marketing strategy and reap the benefits for much longer.
