The New Year is upon us, and it’s time to change up your marketing strategies—take a look at these four SEO tactics for 2014.
We’re a full week into the New Year, and now that you’re back in the groove of work, it’s time to start thinking of positive changes you can make to your digital marketing strategies. The world of SEO got a major shakeup in late 2013 with the unveiling of Google’s Hummingbird updates, which completely rewrote their search algorithms, but it didn’t change the long-term vision SEO experts like Quez have had for years.
SEO requires more attention and effort now than ever. The old-fashioned ways of spamming keywords and backlinks are completely dead, and without a proper new strategy to kick off the New Year, you could be dead in the water. Check out these four top strategies for your company in 2014:
1. Write lots and lots and lots and lots of good content. That’s four “lots,” which means you should be writing as much as you ever thought you could and then write some more. The more content you have the better—just make sure it is quality content, and not filler.
2. Put keywords away—write for subjects instead. While keywords still bear some small importance, that importance won’t last much longer. Put them out of your mind and write for in-depth and interesting subjects.
3. Post content that answers common questions your customers have. Anticipate the types of questions your customers might have and write content that addresses it. Question-based searches are more important than ever.
4. Tie everything into social. Syndicate your posts regularly, on the hour if possible. Make sure it’s easy for your readers to follow you on social channels.
Remember, the key to seeing great SEO results is patience. You won’t be ranked in the first month, or the second month, or even the third month. But if you stay consistent and measure your progress, the long-term results are exponentially more rewarding.
