The world of SEO is always changing, but these four recurring steps will keep you on the right path.

Search engine optimization is somewhat unpredictable. With constant changes in search engine algorithms and evolving consumer trends, it’s difficult to stay on top of everything and maintain your forward momentum. Fortunately, if you put a cycle of learning and adjusting into place, you’ll be able to consistently refine your own campaign and preserve or gain your position in the top ranks.

Put these four cycling steps into practice to keep your growth strong:

1.       Audit Your Strategy. Take a critical look at everything you’re doing for SEO. How much content are you putting out? What kind of content are you putting out? What proportion of onsite and offsite content are you leveraging? How many backlinks are you building and where? Figure out what can be improved and what can be eliminated.

2.       Make Adjustments. The obvious next step is to take what you’ve determined as the best path forward and execute it. It’s a good idea to switch your strategy up a little even if everything appears to be working. Diversity is a good thing.

3.       Measure Your Results. Each month, compare your growth to previous months. Look at total organic visits, your domain authority, and of course your keyword rankings to get a full view of the situation. See if your plan worked!

4.       Research. Stay on top of every trend you can. Look for new changes in search engine algorithms as well as what your competitors are doing in the field. Once you have a good idea of where things stand, cycle back and audit your strategy once again.
