The Incredible Hulk serves as a shining example of certain fundamental marketing principles you should be using for your business.
Through comic books, TV shows, and multiple feature films, the Incredible Hulk has been a universally admired superhero and a cathartic release for everyone who’s ever been angry. While we can’t really speak to the Hulk’s place in the Marvel universe, we can take a look at his character and learn some interesting, helpful lessons in the marketing world:
1. Get a Simple Catch Phrase. HULK SMASH. It’s two words that concisely explain exactly what you’re about to see next. Make sure your catchphrase, or tagline, is something short, witty, and most of all—catchy. It will do wonders for the long-term health of your campaign.
2. Show Your Emotions. When Dr. Banner turns into the Hulk, his full rage comes to the forefront. You might want to hold back any rage you might be feeling, but don’t be afraid to use emotions in your content and social media management. People don’t want faceless corporations, they want other humans.
3. Master What You Can’t Initially Control. Many marketing platforms, like social media, can be a bit unpredictable when you first start using them. Over time, take care to master these platforms rather than letting them run wild. Measure their impact and use them precisely to your advantage.
4. Flex Your Muscles. Hulk’s a big guy, and he lets you know it. Take your major strengths as a business and show them off the best you can. It’s the only way to get positive attention from new customers.
5. Stay Smart. When he’s not hulking out, Dr. Banner is spending time researching his next big project. As a marketer, you should always take the time and effort to stay on top of the latest trends and developments in the industry.
